Organic Weed Control

If you have a bermuda lawn and it is still dormant (brown), there is an easy way to get rid of weeds in the grass. Roundup spray or a similar generic brand is fine to spray on the weeds in the middle of the lawn. The bermuda grass will not be harmed as long as it is still dormant and in most areas of Georgia that is the case. Make sure it is completely dormant.
I checked the water restrictions for Clarke County today and apparently there is no pressure washing allowed even by contractors unless it is in preparation for painting. I know there are many areas still in “drought” conditions, but our area which includes Athens, GA, has had good rains during the winter. So I pose the question, “will it ever be ok to pressure wash in Athens again”? To conserve water is good but to go overboard and take away the opportunity to clean a house exterior before it gets so dirty that some things won’t ever come off is ridiculous. Small businesses that rely on pressure washing as their main business service are really hurt by over the top restrictions. Fortunately that is not my main service but if it were I would just find something else to do as it is just too much trouble in some areas. Oconee County has a decent policy where they just require a one day permit. You can even have it faxed to you to avoid a trip to the water dept. For anyone who thinks Clarke County is saving the water supply from disappearing by banning pressure washing needs to think how little water is used by this service overall. How many times per week did you notice even one house being washed before the ban? Not many more than now with the ban. It is just not a service in huge demand. But for businesses that provide the service, an unnecessary ban can really hurt.

Sharp blades make cutting easier on your mower and keeps your grass healthy by cutting clean. Dull blades “tear” the grass instead of cutting cleanly. Here’s a video demo on how to sharpen blades. We do offer a blade sharpening service for our local area of Jackson / Banks County. $5 per blade. We even pick up and drop off at your home. tinman23@alltel.net
Aeration is important for your lawn to thrive. It opens up the soil to receive more air and water. I do my personal lawn twice a year and it makes a big difference. If you need help with your lawn in the Jackson County and surrounding areas of North Georgia just let us know. We can make your grass and property look like you want it to! tinman23@alltel.net
With so many houses for sale combined with the slow economy, now is a bad time to be selling your home. But none of that matters to you if your situation demands you move. The best way to make sure you get some interested buyers is to be better than your competition (other sellers). Trim your hedges, fertilize the lawn, pressure wash the house, clean up debris, etc. These little things make your home stand out from others that won’t be as clean or manicured as your property. Call us if we can help you get moving. 706-224-4241
