Freeze Warning Northeast Georgia

If you want your blooming plants and flowers to stay looking good be aware of the cold temperatures that are due the next few nights here in Jackson County Ga and surrounding areas. It may not freeze but a frost will do harm as well. You can put an old sheet or tarp over the plants to protect them just make sure to take it off before it gets warm the following day. Some tougher plants might recover after damage but some will not so take a few minutes to save yourself some beauty for months to come.

Town Hall for Hope Northest GA

Just wanted to post a link to an event that is coming up at the end of this month. It is being put on by financial guru Dave Ramsey and is intended to offer some positive news and motivation in this negative economic time. Hopefully it will be available in our area but I have not seen it listed close yet.

Azaleas Maysville Georgia

Just a quick photo of some azaleas at my property here in Maysville, GA. These plants don’t bloom for long but sure are nice for the time they do.

Cutting Wet Grass Northeast GA

I for one like cutting wet grass. Its a good thing too since we have had great rainfall in Northeast GA in the past month. Mowing after or even during a rain is not much different than mowing in the morning with a heavy dew on the lawn. I will assure anyone who thinks it is better to mow dry grass that it is not. The past two years have been dry and cutting in those conditions is not pleasant unless you love dust! I’ll take wet grass any day over dusty lawns. You should scrape underneath your mower deck to keep it free of grass though since it sticks more when wet.

Maysville Georgia

My little town of Maysville, Georgia has a population that is smaller than the membership at a church in town. That was a stat, not a joke :) Although that stat is a few years old and now apparently we have around 1600 people living in Maysville. I run a lawn service and have always wanted to drive less. In other words I would love to have 80-90% of my work here in Maysville. This certainly is possible even with a small poulation like ours. This would benefit me of course but also the lawn service customers here in town because my fuel costs would be lower which allows me to be more competitive on pricing.

I will be giving away free flower seed packs within the next week here in Maysville so we will see how that marketing goes. Also I will also be posting local news as well as it comes available. I am always looking to pay referral fees to anyone who sends me customers as well. I’d rather pay a real person than the yellow pages. I want to create a community of users in my town that benefit from this blog.

Mower Repair in Northeast Georgia

If you think it is hard to find a good mechanic for your car then try finding one for your lawn mower or other small equipment. There are very few mower repair shops in the Jackson County Ga area. If you have a good mechanic as a friend then you better keep them as a friend. The place I normally go to get repairs for my commercial mower seems to be less able than ever to help me. Over the years I have picked up a repaired mower only to have to bring it back a day later for the same trouble happening again. Last year I took a $600 hedge trimmer in for repair and was told it would be too costly to fix but then the owner investigated closer to find his guy was mistaken and it could be fixed…. Well after taking it back 3 times and paying $220, the same trouble was still there. So I just bought another one at a different store. I did not want to do that since the owner of the mower shop is a decent guy but apparently his crew is not up to par.

I’ve always said that a good mechanic can make as much money as he wants to since there is always equipment to repair. Also there are very few good mechanics out there that we can depend on it seems.
