Why does my lawn look bad?

I’m sure this is a question many homeowners ask themselves. There are many different reasons why a lawn looks bad no matter how much you put into it. Too much shade, not enough water, bad soil, etc. Wouldn’t it be nice to have an expert spend 30 minutes or an hour talking over what to do about your unhealthy lawn? I know you can research the Internet and find so much information. But for those who would rather take a crash course than spend hours reading up on lawn tips, a consultation would be great. I mean a consultation from someone not trying to sell any other lawn related service. This way no bias can be brought into the situation. If you would like a consultation just email me tinman23@windstream.net . You will need to take some pictures of your property. Be as detailed as possible with photos so we can see tree limbs that might be a problem, house position, slopes, neighbors connecting property, etc. This service is $35 and must be prepaid via paypal. Money back if not happy of course.

Hot Weather. Bad Mowing

I am convinced that lawns don’t look as good when cut on days that are 95 degrees and up. Grass does fine actually. It is the weeds that don’t cut well. not that weeds are easy to cut anytime since they  are likely to lay over. But when it is super hot they really lay down before the blades hit them. I have used fresh sharpened blades on hot days like this and had to run over sections of the lawn twice that had a lot of weeds. they just don’t cooperate!http://fluffyflowers.typepad.com/.a/6a00d8341c9f2753ef011570116c13970b-800wi

Crowded Lawns

Crowded lawn? This photo is a crazy example of stuff in the way of mowers. If you take care of your own lawn you make it harder on yourself with too much stuff on the lawn. If you pay someone to do it for you then you make it harder on them thus raising your costs. Less weed trimming is better for both parties.

Grass is bad sometimes

I love grass. It makes a property more user friendly. Kids can play on it and parents can relax on it. Sometimes there are spots on properties that have grass that has no chance of thriving. Shady areas are prime examples. The grass will be ok in the spring but will thin out as it gets hotter. Lack of sunlight and also the trees hogging the rain will destroy most grass types. So why fight a losing battle? Just increase the mulch beds into areas that are too shady for grass. Also there are tiny strips of grass that should be covered with mulch. Most of the time these patches of grass are between flower beds with mulch where a thin strip of grass is left for no reason. Just connect the beds.

Rain Northeast Georgia

Looks like it quit raining when everyone was shouting about the “drought being officially over”. But we look to get some today and tomorrow. Hopefully we will.

Trash Pick Up Tool for Mowing

I have a supply of litter pick up tools for sale ($17) on the products page. These are great for use while mowing. It is much safer to pick up trash in the lawn with the tool so you don’t have to get off the mower to pick it up by hand.
