Georgia Lawn Care Tips on Twitter

For quick lawn & property tips follow me on twitter here.  I will try to update you on when to do certain lawn tasks, easier ways to do them, and ideas on new lawn care techniques.

Pine Straw or Mulch

Many folks have a hard time choosing between pine straw and mulch for their flower beds. Here in North Georgia it is easy to come by either. Both have good and bad points. Both do achieve the goal of  keeping down weeds and making the property look better. Mulch lasts longer but does not last forever. Pine straw needs freshening up at least once per year. Mulch is more work to install and more time consuming as well. You spend more upfront with mulch but since it lasts longer you get better value. Pine straw is easier to move around since you don’t need a wheel barrel. If you do a good thick layer of either, then you have a good base so you can lighten up on the next install.

Your Yard

When trying to make your yard look its best you need to think of the big picture. Taking care of the grass and forgetting to trim the hedges gets poor results. Just like having a green lawn but never freshening up the pine straw beds. We did a couple of clean ups and pine straw installs in Jefferson GA last week and the difference is amazing. Especially when you compare the properties with the neighbors who still have leaves everywhere and weeds in the flower beds.

Happy Thanksgiving North Georgia

Thanks to all my customers and readers of this website. I hope you all have a great Thanksgiving.

Selling a Home in Jackson County Georgia

I see a lot of homes for sale while driving on my lawn care route in Jackson County, GA. And it is a tough time to try and sell a home as many of you know. But what makes it tougher is the fact that many homes are not kept up in a neat fashion. Mildew on the siding. Grass overgrown. Weeds knee high in the flower beds. Shall I go on?

These things make a difference. Some sellers think, “why even bother…. no one is buying anyway” . First, that is not true. Some people are actually buying homes. Not many folks but some are buying. Secondly, if a seller thinks no one is going to buy, then why even list it?

When fewer house are selling, it is important that you make yours stand out from the crowd. Dress it up. It does not cost much to get some curb appeal. Without curb appeal, no one will even bother taking a look at the inside of the house. If we can help you make your home look better and sell faster Contact us today. If you want to do it yourself and need some tips or advise… use this website or give me a call 706-224-4241. I’d be glad to help.

Jefferson Georgia Lawns

With the building boom that happened up until the recession hit, Jefferson Georgia had enormous growth. At one point Jackson county was one of the top 25 fastest growing counties in the USA. That was good then but not so much now. But honestly, Jefferson does not have a tremendous amount of homes for sale like I thought it might. There are a lot of homes on the market to be sure but compared to the growth that Jefferson had, it could have been worse.

The growth sure helped my business. I have many clients in Jefferson. And with so many homes clustered it saves me drive time. If you live in Jefferson and need a lawn care provider Contact us today. We’d be glad to talk to you.

Ways to Save Up Georgia Rain

With all the extra rain we are getting in Northeast Georgia it is important to save up as much of it as we can. There are a few ways to gather the rain for the  not so raining days that may come back in the form of a drought. Rain barrels at the bottom of down spouts is a common way to save water for plants. Also if you have a pool cover that holds water, then get a cheap pump to drain it off into some barrels for later use. The easiest way to gather water is 5 gallon buckets or 50 gallon drums at the base of a barn or out building with no gutters. It is amazing how much water runs off a roof.

Blowing Leaves…

Leaf cleanups are no fun but when the wind is calm it is much easier. Wet leaves make it hard too so that has made it a bit harder since we have been getting regular rains. The best way to tackle big amounts of leaves is to just be patient. No need to get in a huge hurry. It is tedious work so just get through it. The good thing is that most of the leaves have fallen already except for some odd trees like water oaks.
