No Room for a Garden?

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

Many people who live in subdivisions around Jackson County want to plant some veggies or fruit but don’t have space available. If you have limited space for a big garden then try a raised bed.  You can build these cheaply and they take little space to do. Here’s some helpful info.

Penny Pinching Landscaping

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

I like this photo set a lot. It shows simple things that do not cost much , that make a backyard more relaxing and improve your property. If you are afraid to start a project because you do not have the money for everything, just go one step at a time. A little bit here and there will add up to a great landscape for you and your family to enjoy. Just make sure you have a plan so you don’t end up with a disorganized mess. :)

Ideas for Your Gardening Goals

Monday, March 29th, 2010

This blog has some good ideas for “green” type gardening. I like the idea of trying to grow more of your own food. That and buying from local farmers markets is a good idea.

People Love Feeding Birds

Sunday, March 28th, 2010

People love to feed birds. My Dad is big into it with all kinds of crazy bird feeders. I think it must be relaxing just like gardening. The bird below has benefited from this hobby…. too much I’d say. Link to blog here.

Organizing Your Landscape

Sunday, March 28th, 2010

I do lawn care for a living here in so I notice other people’s landscaping all the time. The biggest thing I notice is how jumbled up some are. It is a big time saver to lay things out properly to avoid extra work on your part. Here is a good article that can help you.

Buying New Plants To Freeze?

Sunday, March 28th, 2010

It almost always gets warm here in north Georgia in late March only to fool folks into buying new plants. The trick comes when we get about 3 harshly cold days around Easter or before. People set out their newly purchased items from Home Depot or Shirley’s Feed & Seed in Commerce GA (nice folks) only have them hurt by a late frost. Just keep your eyes on the forecasts so you do not get surprised by a crazy weather pattern. Weathermen love to freak out so just watch a little of the news and you won’t miss it…. or just use this link for Commerce GA’s 10 day forecast. Saves time.

How pine straw sellers make money

Friday, March 26th, 2010

Ever wonder how the guy knocking on your door to spread some pine straw at an unbelieveably low price can make money? I mean if he is going to spread it for $3.50 per bale and you would pay 3.25 per bale at home depot which does not include spreading it …. It sounds like a great deal right. Wrong. The majority of these door knockers, not all, basically double charge the home owner for the bales. If they tell you they put out 98 then they likely put out about 50. They spread the pine straw way too thin to make it go further.
A good deal is not always what it seems. You’re welcome :)

Stop Georgia Fire Ants Now

Sunday, March 21st, 2010

Now is the time to get fire ants before they get your lawn. The weather in North Georgia is warming and the ants will start their rise to the top of the lawn. Get us to treat your lawn now so you do not have to worry about them later…. or treat it yourself if you want. Just make sure to treat the whole yard and not just spots. Good luck.
