Best Choice for North Georgia Lawn Care

What is your best choice for lawn service in north Georgia. It would be a quick post for me to simply say ….call me.. 706-224-4241 LOL. But it depends on what you want. Do you want dependable service on a regular basis? Do you just want your grass cut when it “needs it”? Do you want your property groomed perfectly each and every week?

These are just some of the options to think over when deciding who you want to care for your lawn. You choices are small companies like mine, a neighborhood kid, or a big company with several crew members (the names of which you may never even know.. which may be fine for your needs). We all can do the job. It just depends on what kind of job you are looking to get and what level of service. If I can be of service just contact me anytime. Even if you only have a question about your lawn.

Why is it?

Why is it that when one person in a neighborhood starts cutting their grass, other home owners start on their lawns? It gets everyone to thinking about their lawns when they were thinking about relaxing. It seems to be the same way when someone starts washing their car. I guess we are all a bunch of copy cats. :)

Will Pine Straw Stop All Weeds?

You need pine straw in your landscape beds… or mulch. The reason is that it controls weeds and keeps in moisture for the plants. But to stop weeds completely you have to maintain the beds weekly. Either spraying with weed killer or pulling them up by hand are the most common methods. The more you spray the less pulling is needed. Just be careful not to kill your plants. It is not hard to do if you spray on a windy day. It is best to do it on a day with no wind.

What Your Lawn Needs Now

I cannot say what a lawn in Oregon needs at this time of year but I do know what grass needs in Northeast Georgia right now. I do this to my personal property and many of the properties I take care of in my lawn care business.

  1. 1. Aerate
  2. Put out fire ant control
  3. Fertilize
  4. Over seed

There are many factors that determine how your lawn will perform. But the list above is a great baseline to follow.

Check Lawn Equipment Out Now

If your mower has not been cranked since last November you may want to try it now. If you need it worked on then a head start will help you out. Mower shops will be much busier in about 4 weeks. So now is the time to get to the head of the line while their business is still slow. There are not that many places to take mowers in Jackson County GA anyway. So that makes it more important to get in line.

Good or Bad Pine Straw

How to tell if the pine straw you are buying is good or bad:

  1. The reddish color is usually fresher and better overall.
  2. Ask the seller to break open a bail to see if there are limbs, trash, grass, etc inside it.
  3. Tighter bales go further.
  4. If you are a homeowner, just call around to local lawn care providers to see where they get pine straw. They will know which places carry the good stuff consistently.
  5. In my personal opinion, The Straw Lot in Jefferson Georgia is the place to go. The bales are clean and big and the guy that manages the lot is helpful .
