Georgia Lawn Tip of The Week

Cutting your grass too low is a top reason your lawn looks worse than your neighbors. Also check your tire pressure on your lawn mower. Low pressure causes uneven mowing and scalping.

Lowest Cost Lawn Georgia

If I were a homeowner that did not want to cut my own grass or pay a lot for full lawn service, what would I do? I would hire a respected lawn service company to do a mow only service. That is a good bit cheaper than full mowing which involves edging, trimming, & blowing off the driveway. If you use pine straw of mulch properly you can eliminate the need to weed eat at all. So all you would have to do is blow off after they mow…. and edge if you want.

We offer mow only for those looking to save some money on their lawn care bill in North Georgia. Email me for a free estimate.

Keep Gutters Cleaned Out

We have cleaned out gutters for homeowners that appeared to have never been cleaned out before. That is a bad plan. Clogged gutters don’t do their job and actually make things worse than not having gutters at all. They allow water to get behind wood which causes the wood to rot eventually.

Also, deteriorating leaves can become food for ants. When trees hang close to your roof ants can just make their way to your home easily and feed on the rotting debris in the gutters. They will wind up inside your house soon there after. One house we worked on that had apparently never had a gutter clean out had fire ants in the gutters and on the roof! I have never seen anything like it.

Call us today (contact page) if you have clogged gutters and need help. We serve the Northeast Georgia area.

Georgia Ground is Soaked

News flash. The ground is soggy here in Northeast Georgia. Everyone knows that but it is as wet as I have ever seen it in the 12 total years I have been mowing lawns. We were on a property today doing a pine straw install and walking across the grass was like walking in a swamp. It is amazing how much rain has fallen in the past couple months. It is better than a drought so I hope no one is complaining except the people who have been truly flooded out of their homes. I certainly feel for those folks.

Holiday Gatherings North Georgia

Everyone likes to have their home look its best when people visit on Thanksgiving and Christmas. People go on cleaning sprees for the inside but often do little to the outside so the exterior gets neglected. Pressure washing before it gets too cold is a good way to spruce things up. Fresh pine straw is a good way to neaten up the lawn also.

If you need help with any of these projects please contact us today. 706-224-4241 or tinman23@windstream.net .

We serve the Northeast Georgia areas.

Best Time for Pine straw?

When is the best time to put out pine straw for your landscaping beds? Anytime is fine unless you have too many trees close by. In this case you need to let most of the leaves fall before putting out pine straw. This way the leaves don’t mess up the pine straw and you have to get rid of less leaves since you can cover them with the straw.http://www.medlockcompany.com/Medlock%20Pine%20Straw%202008.jpg

Gutters Fulll of Leaves in North Georgia

Gutters are designed to carry water away from the foundation of the house. If they are clogged with leaves they cannot do that job. Keep them clear but cleaning them out as needed but be careful. Ladders are the most common cause of household injuries. Give us a call if you need help with clogged gutters. We also install gutter guards. We service Maysville, Commerce, Jefferson, Georgia and the surrounding areas.

Rye Grass for Northeast Georgia

With cooler weather here in Jackson County Georgia most grasses are slowing to a crawl and going dormant. If you need to cover some bare area or thicken up your lawn until spring just put out some rye grass. It grows nicely in the cold weather and brightens things up when winter has everything else looking dreary. The annual rye is only $30 for 50 pounds. It will die out in about May when it gets hot but it is worth the money.
