As Fall rolls in the leaves are slowly dropping. Many people mulch the leaves up with their mowers, including me. This could be a safety hazard on lawns that are new to you. Lawns we mow all season we get familiar with all the stumps and holes, etc. Leaves can cover stumps and holes which can lead to mower damage and possible injury. So take it a bit slower on leaf cleanup with mowers.

I’ll start with a pet peeve of mine. When putting out plants or flowers in your yard, you need to have a plan. Don’t just dig a hole and put the plant in the first place you like. You should think about how it will look as it grows, will it be bigger than is pleasing, will it block out other plants behind it? Also remember to use potting soil when planting it. And put some mulch or pinestraw around it. Also, if it is close to another bed make the mulch touch the mulch in the other bed so you do not leave a strip of grass that you can not fit your mower in between. If you set your lanscape up correctly you will have to weed eat less thus saving time for fun things!
